ABJHI has a wide range of skills and expertise to link and integrate datasets across different sites in the province, providing a map across the continuum of care. Information sources for bone and joint health in Alberta present challenges to research, quality improvement, and quality assurance. There is variation in clinical data capture on a site-to-site basis and not all electronic medical record systems are accessible to the public health system. Health care is also rarely static as patients and their needs change, and new knowledge sheds light on practices, procedures, drugs, and devices.
