THE GLOBE AND MAIL EDITORIAL: If Alberta’s government wants to generate more value from its health care dollars, it can start with reducing unnecessary magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). That’s the advice of Calgary orthopaedic surgeon Nick Mohtadi who says unnecessary knee and lower back MRIs alone may number 17,000 a year in Alberta leading to long waits and waste of more than $15 million annually.
